Casa Romagna

Casa Romagna

On the hills of Rubicone Valley reigns the organic production

Once, the Rubicone marked the border between the Italic and Gallic populations. Today, in the valley that has formed over time, the marshes have been drained and the land has become lush and ready to host new crops. Casa Romagna has taken advantage of the strategic position and today, in its 15 hectares of property, cultivates following the organic philosophy different qualities of fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and cereals.

The Casa Romagna farm began its adventure in 1980, when the family decided to buy the land located in the municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone, in the province of Forlรฌ Cesena. A completely family-run business that carries on the tradition and local production. A difficult choice, that of organic farming, but at the same time a responsible one. In this way, besides the classic harvest, it is possible to rediscover herbs and aromatic essences which are born spontaneously in nature, avoiding to damage them with chemical substances.

Production focuses on local products and the preservation of some crops that were in danger of being lost. These include Ancient Grains. This type of grain has existed since before the agricultural revolution of the second half of the 20th century, but was abandoned for a long time. Thanks to the work of companies such as Casa Romagna, it is still possible today to taste these grains that manage to keep their properties and nutritional values intact over time. A product able to guarantee continuous genuineness.

Not only grains on the farm, but roses, aromatic herbs and the characteristic ottofile corn. A name that recalls its main characteristic, namely the presence of eight rows of kernels on the body of the cob. Casa Romagna is a real Romagna shop, carried on through the efforts of Anna and Renato Brancaleoni. Cheeses, jams, honey and wines are some of the products that are skilfully packaged by their hands.

However, there are many projects: at the Villa Ripalta farmhouse, Casa Romagna is setting up a processing laboratory, a natural drying room for herbs and essences and a shop. The farm is also an educational farm, the Il Sorriso farm. Here children can take care of the animals and carry out educational activities in the midst of nature. A way to learn ancient crafts and to promote the enchanting Rubicone Valley.
