An enchanted oasis in the Oltrepò Pavese area
Borgo Priolo is a small town in the province of Pavia where the hills frame landscapes that are definitely worth a visit. Between one vineyard and another, it is possible to come across an estate that has been welcoming visitors to the Oltrepò Pavese area since 1984. it is the first agritourism farm in the province and from being a pioneer, today it has become an absolute certainty.
“An old farmhouse that, to see it today, looks like a new structure, equipped with every comfort despite all the historical and natural context have been maintained.”
A real jewel that owes its beauty and authenticity to the family that manages it. La Torrazzetta is a daughter to them, something to be proud of and to look after with care and love. And that is exactly what they do every day. From caring for their land, where they grow the necessary for their 0 km farmhouse, to the customer, who in addition to being a guest, also becomes part of the family.
Alongside all this is the winery, which is one of the excellences of the Oltrepò Pavese area. A record-breaking winery La Torrazzetta, which is also the first organic winery in the district. Artisanal wines, with the taste of the past: Bonarda, Metodo Classico and Pinot Noir vinified in pink are just some of the products that can be tasted at the end of the visit in the cellars. Staying in the same theme, Cantina del Pellegrino is a space they created for tastings and breakfasts. A place made of staves of the barrels, in order to increase even more the country atmosphere you can breathe.
The farmhouse serves every day dishes created according to the availability that the harvest offers. Typical recipes of the territory, with a bit of innovation to make them more palatable. Fresh handmade pasta, bread baked every day and mostly organic products, all accompanied by excellent wines.
“The chef never pulls back and takes every opportunity to delight his guests with unforgettable dishes.”
Eating in places like those offered by La Torrazzetta is an unmissable experience: the indoor dining room, the barn, the veranda or the porch will be the ideal location for any event.
For those who want to live the full emotion of a weekend in Oltrepò Pavese, can use the rooms obtained from the recovery of the spaces of the company. The peculiarity lies in the name of the rooms, which recall the ancient functions of the past: the well, the mill, the cellar and the barn. La Torrazzetta is a story of love for the territory and for the family tradition that still today the children carry on with passion and dedication. For a dip back in time, in nature, but without forgetting the comfort, this is the perfect place.
Patrizia, born in 1992, graduated in Architecture at the Politecnico of Milano. I’ve always loved this world of stories, stories and construction techniques, but what really didn’t convince me was the idea of spending my life between subway trips, fixed schedules, patterns and habit. It was exactly in front of the possibility of having a permanent contract that I decided to leave for America. To do what, you may be wondering? To realize the first of my many dreams: being a cook. And here I am, writing stories of my travels, of the people I met during my transoceanic trips and handing down the recipes of the dishes I taste around the world.
