Have you ever thought about dropping your habits and stick to a new way of eating loading your body with superfoods and lots of healthy stuff. Let’s start with this breakfast bowl!
Congee, aka porridge (I say Congee cos it’s cooler!) its a breakfast bowl enriched with superfoods and lots of yummy healthy fruits. Born in Asia, Congee was a typical rice porridge or gruel very popular in many Asian countries. When additional ingredients are added while preparing the congee, it is most often served as a meal on its own. Names for congee are as varied as the style of its preparation. Despite its many variations, it is usually a thick porridge of rice largely disintegrated after prolonged cooking in water. It was served to ill people because the healthy properties are really good for the whole body system.
Of course nowadays congee changed a lot and with globalization every tradition created its own style. I personally use instant oat cooking it in any plan base milk of my daily choice (often vanilla soy milk or even almond milk) adding lots of different superfoods and natural sweeteners such as agave or maple syrup.
My favourite superfoods are blue spirulina powder which is completely odorless and tasteless but adds a bright blue color and contains an extremely high concentration of vitamins and antioxidants. Spirulina is a superfood which is used to detoxify the body system as well as alkalizing the tissues.
Another one I love is pitaya (dragonfruit powder) which gives a beautiful pink color and enriches the congee bowl with lots of benefits. You can also add maca powder, lucuma and even reishi mushrooms powder. Reishi mushrooms support the immune system, reduce stress and improve overall health. They are sold as a powder and don’t have any taste at all. Congee can really become a holy grail that can make your day. You can personalize your congee with any superfood powder you like. These days you can find superfoods online so they easily get to you without moving too far.
But what superfoods are? Superfoods are some of the oldest living plants on the planet.
They have been used for thousands of years by indigenous people all over the world. Their pharmacological attributes have long been revered by ancient civilizations–and only some of us are beginning to experience the magic and medicine held within them.
Superfoods are called “superfoods” because they are “SUPER” nutrient dense. Superfoods grow naturally in specific regions around the world, where they flourish in their native, wild environment–independent of human interference. They are defined by their many unique properties and multiple nutritional components.
It is only in the last decade, that superfoods have made their way into our marketplace–and are now one of the fastest growing segments of the health food industry.
Today, superfoods are getting the attention of the medical community as their health benefits continue to be proven by research. More and more people are experiencing the extraordinary benefits of these highly specialized, delicious, organic, whole foods. Superfoods are an excellent way to give your body very high quality, high density nutrition, for building a strong foundation for a healthy immune system. Some superfoods such as maca, coconut sugar or even lucuma give a sweet and intense caramel taste which is perfect to add to any congee bowl you can have for breakfast.
On top of that you can add any fruits you like. I personally love berries because are the most nutrient dense fruits ever such as blueberries, raspberries or even blackberries. Loaded with antocians they fuel the body with the most precious nutrients.
Now it’s your turn. Try your favourite combo, use any superfood mix you love, try and experiment. Top with banana, mango, papaya or any other of your favourites. Once you start to replace your breakfast with any of those bowl you will soon notice your health improving day by day feeling more energized, alive and glowing like a star!

Since I was young I approached to a plant-based diet for healty reasons, realizing soon that what we eat can really make a difference. Being aware of this, I started a personal research by attending nutrition courses, and being passionated about the art of cooking, i decided to move to London to work in the best raw vegan restaurants of the city. After a few years, I came back to Italy to raise awareness there by spreading healthy eating and lifestyle knowledge, organising and taking part in events and meetings.
