Banana Pops, a Raw Chocolate Experience!
I got to experience the hidden power of cacao back in Thailand and Bali. It was a beautiful experience and I suggest everyone to get to meet its bright spirit at least once during lifetyme. During a ceremony, held by a shaman or someone who’s able to hold the space and the energy created, People usually sit in a circle and set intentions, pray, sing together with heartfelt music or sound healing and then dance ecstatically or share as a group together. It is a fun, uplifting experience in a safe and open community.cacao used in a cacao ceremony is different from regular chocolate we eat, Raw cacao has been used for centuries to heal the mental, physical and spiritual body. It is a natural and ancient plant medicine, with a high concentration of vitamins, minerals and is a powerful antioxidant. Cacao also increases blood flow (oxygen and nutrients) to the brain as well as induces the release of feel-good endorphins. It enhances the immune system and lowers cholesterol and blood pressure.
Cacao is often used to change your perspective, enabling you to recognize and let go of repeated patterns or bad habits, release energetic blockages and what no longer serves you. Naturally packed with caffeine, cacao gives you a burst of energy that helps you focus and improve your memory and is said to be a big creativity enhancer and facilitator of deep inner meditation and connections. In today’s recipe I will use raw cacao, but don’t expect to get high! Low quantities will just have benefits on your body but will not interfere on the mental state. Let’s check how to make these banana candy pops together!
WHAT YOU NEED
- 2 bananas (not too ripe)
- 1 cup raw cacao butter (or coconut oil)
- 1 cup raw cacao powder
- 1/2 cup coconut nectar or stevia drops to taste
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp soy or sunflower lecithin
- pecan chunks or other nuts
WHAT TO DO
Cut the bananas in pieces (around 2 inches thick or more) and insert a stick in each. Freeze for about 2 hours meanwhile you prepare the chocolate: Melt the sunflower (or soy) lecithin with water using a teaspoon. With an immersion blender incorporate all the other ingredients till very creamy. If you use cacao butter you have to melt it at bain marie while for the coconut oil just place the container in a warm place and you will see it’ll get liquid by itself. At this stage just dip each frozen banana chunk in the melted chocolate you got and cover with nut chunks. I used cashews and pecans which are my favourite. Place back in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving. They can be kept in the freezer for a month.
Now you have your healthy snacks for any moment of the summer! Healthy, yummy and mood-lifting!

Since I was young I approached to a plant-based diet for healty reasons, realizing soon that what we eat can really make a difference. Being aware of this, I started a personal research by attending nutrition courses, and being passionated about the art of cooking, i decided to move to London to work in the best raw vegan restaurants of the city. After a few years, I came back to Italy to raise awareness there by spreading healthy eating and lifestyle knowledge, organising and taking part in events and meetings.
