Make veggie burgers is extremely easy! You can make plantbased patties in every way possible. Learn how to do it yourself!

I bet almost every person on the planet would start mouthwatering staring at a burger like this. Well, nowadays it’s pretty easy to find vegan alternatives to meat patties, but most of them are so expensive.
Cutting down meat consumption during the week is really important as it contributes to keep our planet ‘green‘ avoiding meat industry pollution and deforestation but also an healthy choice for ourselves. In fact processed red meat has cancer-causing compounds in it that will lead to cardiovascular diseases in a long term period or consumption.
If you want to learn how to substitute patties for your burgers I’ll show you the way to DIY! It’s pretty easy and just with few easy-to-get ingredients you can rock out the most tasty patties ever.
Ingredients to make 3 patties:
WHAT YOU NEED
- 80g textured soy (or chickpeas)
- 1/2 cup cooked red kidney beans
- 45ml oil
- 15 ml maple syrup
- 30 ml tomato paste
- 15 ml soy sauce
- 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/4 tsp each: paprika, garlic powder, onion powder
- 1/8 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
- 60 ml water
- 80 gr water (or beetroot juice)
WHAT TO DO
If you use textured soy, boil it for 10 minutes then let to cool down. Strain the water out using a cloth. If you can’t find textured soy then use the same amount of canned chickpeas.
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and let it to blend till you get a sticky ground meat consistency that you can work with wet hands. If the compound you got is not too sticky enough then add little bit of flour at a time till you can form patties that don’t break apart.
Place the patties on a parchment paper sheet and bake at 180° C for 20 minutes. Cool them down at room temperature and freeze. Before to eat I suggest to heat some oil in a pan and fry when still frozen and there you go!
You can easily substitute textured soy with any legume that you prefer. Lentils and chickpeas make the yummiest one but you can try to unleash your creativity and find out which is your favorite one! Keep experimenting and share with us your result!
