A delicious cure for a bad day “Fondue” – Matisse, Prishtina
Sometimes it can be difficult to pin down a place of where to find a fad food or drink, like Irish coffee or the Krispy Kreme doughnuts. So it’s a pleasure, when someone asks “Where to eat a chocolate Fondue in town?”, to be able to point to a spot and say with certainty, “Right there”. In this case, the spot is the mos famous sweet-shop in Prishtina called “Matisse”.
The location of Matisse is a great stop, in mid town square with the view of the square and people that never stop. This is the first area they started up but nowadays you can find five areas in different places around the country. It is one of the best places in Prishtina for coffee, dessert, and food such as breakfast, lunch and diner. The staff is always lovely and welcoming.
I love exploring and trying different taste of cakes they offer but this time Fondue was my choice. I enjoyed it with all my heart and while I was putting fruits in that full glass of melted chocolate and eating them I felt the pain for ruining all that miracle.
And for those who have puzzled about the Fondue… Fondue is a Swiss melted cheese served in a communal pot over a portable stove heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks. It was promoted as a Swiss national dish by the Swiss Cheese Union in the 1930s, and was popularized in North America in the 1960s. Since the 1950s, the term “fondue” has been generalized to other dishes in which a food is dipped into a communal pot of liquid kept hot in a fondue pot: chocolate fondue, in which pieces of fruit or pastry are dipped into a melted chocolate mixture.
At the end of that overdose I also took a chocolate for my mom called “Amel”, which is produced by their own like a local product and this is what makes them different in town.
So now you know what to do, go get some choco love. Doubts about finding? Ask insiders “Which is the most popular sweet-shop in town?”
