Energy Bliss Bliss

These energy balls will give your the right boost to rock through the day

Bliss balls are a simple treat that pack a mighty health punch. These pick-me-ups are a concentrate of whole, raw ingredients processed together and then rolled into a ball that you can bring anywhere and eat any time!

They really are the perfect snack to keep stored in a container in the fridge for whenever you need something quick and easy to eat. I make them very often, and you can literally put everything you prefer in it. I like to load them with superfoods such as spirulina, raw cacao powder, carob powder, maca or lucuma. Since I like a crunchy texture I usually put nuts or seeds as base ingredients, but you can also use coconut flour or flakes to keep the raw.

Eating raw food is really important because it contains natural enzymes that aid in digestion, and therefore since I only use dates as a sweetener, they only have quite a bit of natural sugar with TONS of fiber that the glycemic index is really low making them suitable even for people who have sugar intolerance. These I’m gonna show you today are among my favourites. I use the same base ingredients but rolled into different stuff such as shredded coconut, chunky cacao beans and raw cacao powder or even pistachos at times.

Ingredients (4-5 persons):

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 1/2 cups nuts (pecans, almonds…)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut (+extra for rolling)
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1 Tbsp maca powder
  • 3 Tbsp raw coconut oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2-3 Tbsp water or more (if needed)
  • coatings (raw cacao powder, pistachio chunks, shredded coconut)

WHAT TO DO

Put everything in the food processor and while on add 1 Tbsp of water at a time until the mixture gets sticky and chunky. It may requires a couple of minutes. Dates should be really well incorporated to the mixture.

Take the paste out of the food processor and using wet hands roll a small portion of it into a ball and cover it with any of your favourite coating. Once done, leave the balls into the fridge for at least 2 hours to set inside a container before to serve or you can even freeze them so they will last longer. Once defrosted the maximum storage time is around 4-6 days. Remember to keep them inside of the fridge.

There you go! You can now indulge on any of these guilt-free treats whenever you want. Your body will thank you for the goodness you’re giving to it as well as your taste buds!

Since I was young I approached to a plant-based diet for healty reasons, realizing soon that what we eat can really make a difference. Being aware of this, I started a personal research by attending nutrition courses, and being passionated about the art of cooking, i decided to move to London to work in the best raw vegan restaurants of the city. After a few years, I came back to Italy to raise awareness there by spreading healthy eating and lifestyle knowledge, organising and taking part in events and meetings.
