Hummus isn’t as popular as it should be. It has numerous health benefits … is rich in fiber and protein. It is also rich in Omega 3 fatty acids and hence helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases. It makes a great replacement for mayonnaise. Some interesting facts of Hummus are, promoting the production of Serotonin, the happy hormone and it is recommended for people who can’t sleep well.
Hummus has become one of those things that I ALWAYS have to have on hand in my kitchen. Seriously, if there’s no hummus in the fridge, then something just doesn’t feel quite right. Here are hummus 2 ways homemade, try them on your own.
Beet hummus
- Ingredients:
3 beets (medium size)
150ml water
3tbsp tahini
3tbsp chickpeas
2tbsp olive oil
1tbsp lime juice
1tsp cumin
1tbsp himalayan salt
1tbsp red pepper flakes
a clove of garlic
1/2 lemon juice
fresh parsley
Preparation:
Cover the beets with aluminum foil and bake at high temperature until softened. After baking, leave them to cool. Then clean and cut them in cubes. Put the beets and the water together in the blinder. Constantly add all the ingredients by mixing until we get a homogeneous mass.
Carrot hummus
- Ingredients:
3 large carrots
100ml water
3tbsp tahini
3tbsp chickpeas
2tbsp olive oil
1tbsp lime juice
1tsp turmeric
1tsp cumin
1tbsp himalayan salt
1tbsp red pepper flakes
a clove of garlic
1/2 lemon juice
fresh dill
Preparation:
Cover the carrots with aluminum foil and bake at high temperature until softened. After baking, leave them to cool. Put the carrots and the water together in the blinder. Constantly add all the ingredients by mixing until we get a homogeneous mass.
